Paula Fisher

Managing Director LLB (hons), LLM

Paula Fisher founded Practical HR in May 2002. Prior to this Paula held senior HR management positions within corporate organisations and in 1997 completed a Law Degree (LLB Hons), graduating with a 1st class honours. She has also gained a master's degree (LL.M) in Employment Law and Employee Relations and has lectured in employment law at Anglia Ruskin University on the CIPD course (Certified Institute of Personnel & Development). Paula has been working with SME’s for over 20 years. She brings a commercial approach to HR, recognising that HR is an integral part of running a business. Her view is that HR should ensure that an organisation has flexibility and protection and should help (not hinder) an organisation in helping them achieve their business objectives and move their business forward. Paula is also a published author and her book ‘HR for SME’s – a practical guide’, is a culmination of her many years working for SME’s; providing practical and commercial HR support.

Fiona Haworth

Senior HR Consultant

Fiona Haworth, has 30 years’ experience in HR. She has spent the last 15 years working as an HR Consultant, supporting clients through a wide variety of employment issues, including restructures / redundancies, TUPE transfers, disciplinary and grievance matters, long-term absence etc. She also has extensive, hands-on experience of drafting and implementing employment contracts and employee handbooks. Fiona has a strong knowledge of employment law legislation and supports clients with employment tribunal claims. Working closely with a Barrister she ensures cases are fully prepared and defended robustly. Fiona works with clients to develops strategies to help them meet their objectives. She explains complex issues in ‘jargon-free' language and sets out any procedures that need to be followed in clear, logical steps. Prior to working in consultancy, Fiona spent fifteen years in numerous HR generalist and management roles within the Financial Services sector.

Angela Dansey

Employment Relations Consultant

Angie Dansey is an experienced HR Professional with a strong knowledge of employment law legislation, employee relations and employee development. She has a proven track record of implementing HR policies, practices and procedures in high-pressure environments. Before working in HR Angie had 12 years’ experience working as an Operations Manager which provided her with the experience and understanding of the commercial pressures that businesses must deal with on a day to day basis. This has enabled Angie to understand the needs of clients and have a true appreciation of the time and distraction that HR issues can cause in the workplace. Angie has extensive experience and expertise in employment relations, specialising in matters such as long-term absence and conduct and performance issues. She also a trained mediator.

Natalie Jansen

HR Co-ordinator

Before joining Practical HR, Natalie had been working in HR for almost 2 years during which time she achieved the CIPD Level 3 Diploma in Human Resources Practice and acquired a keen interest in employee relations and employment law. Natalie joined us in 2016 as an HR Administrator / Account Manager and was greatly involved in our client websites but also worked closely with our Consultants to provide administrative support and to further develop her skills and knowledge. This led to her developing into becoming a HR Co-ordinator; this role involves her assisting the Consultants in many aspects of their work including drafting of HR documents and letters, communications monitoring and supporting clients' cases.

HR Administrator

With a background in HR Administration, Crystal is the newest addition to the Practical HR team. Crystal works closely with the HR Coordinator and Consultants to provide Administration support for our Clients. This includes the drafting of HR documentation and letters and providing support with our Outsourced HR service.

Gina Bartley

Account Manager -

Gina is involved in the building, updating and maintaining of the websites of our clients. She is immersing herself in the processes to ensure that her clients are provided with a site that is effective, accurate and easy to use. Prior to working at Practical HR Gina spent 11 years working in numerous roles within the Financial Services Industry, which gave her knowledge of HR issues and the need for building strong working relationships with clients.

Leah Nicholas

Account Manager

Leah is involved in the building, updating and maintaining of the websites of our clients. She is very conscious of the processes and is therefore able to ensure that our clients are provided with a site that is accurate, effective and easy to use. She has experience designing and building websites for businesses and so is familiar with common issues with usability and functionality and, is meticulous in the testing process in order to create the perfect site for our clients.
