The Employment Rights Bill – Implementation Roadmap

The Government has published its road map for implementing the Employment Rights Bill Implementing the Employment Rights Bill: our roadmap for delivering change.

This starts to give greater clarity on when the various elements of the Bill will be implemented, and a summary has been provided below.

Consultation is still to be held on many of the regulations, and therefore it will still be some time before we know all the details.  The road map promises to provide “guidance to support employers” … and states that the government is committed to “supporting employers, workers, and unions to adapt to the Make Work Pay reforms”.

Despite this, the changes will ultimately increase the cost of employment both directly and indirectly and require businesses to make changes and implement new processes and procedures to ensure compliance.

Implementation dates

Here are the implementation dates for some of the key changes (there are more changes, and for a full list see page 9 of the roadmap).
