National Minimum Wage Increase - 1st October 2016

13/09/2016

I am sure we all remember the introduction in April for the Living Wage. This was a new tier to the National Minimum Wage for employees over 25 years old.

We still have the other age tiers - 21 but under 25, 18 but under 21, and age 16 - 17.

From 1st October these rates WILL increase as follows - but there will be no increase in the Living Wage - that will remain at £7.20 per hour.

Tiers

NMW

25+

£7.20 per hour (no change)

21 - 24

From £6.70 to £6.95 per hour

18 - 20

From £5.30 to £5.55 per hour

16 - 17

From £3.87 to £4.00 per hour

Apprentice Rate

From £3.30 to £3.40 per hour

In preparation for this we would strongly recommend that you check any payment rates for employees to ensure they will remain in line with the NMW as of 1st October 2015.
